Record-Breaking Summer Season at McKinnon Basketball

McKinnon Basketball Association is proud to celebrate a record breaking 868 teams registered for the Summer 2025/26 season, the largest domestic competition turnout in MBA history.

This figure includes both junior teams (via affiliated member clubs and independent registrations) and senior teams, highlighting the incredible growth and passion for basketball across our community.

The numbers continue to rise year on year, with 819 teams competing in Summer 2024/25 and 785 teams during Winter 2025, a reflection of the strength and engagement within our basketball family.

Our affiliated domestic clubs have once again shown remarkable commitment to participation and development. Brighton Wolves, Bentleigh Lakers and Ormond Jets lead the way with more than 120 teams each, while Carnegie Chargers, East Brighton Vampires, Glen Eira Saints, Moorabbin Magic, Oakleigh Raptors and South East Warriors combine for almost 300 teams of their own. Together, these clubs represent the heart of our competitions and the ever-growing love for the game across the region.

Round 5 marks the official start of the regular season for McKinnon Basketball’s domestic competitions, following the completion of grading. Wednesday competitions, including Over 35s and Afternoon U10s, tipped off on November 5, while Junior Domestic Saturday and Sunday competitions will commence this weekend (November 15–16). With that said, ladders have now been reset across all age groups and divisions.

For any junior team-specific enquiries, players and families from affiliated member clubs (those mentioned above) are asked to contact their club directly.

McKinnon Basketball extends a sincere thank you to our Domestic Competitions Partner - Victorian Oral and Facial Surgeons, for their ongoing support of grassroots basketball and their commitment to helping our community thrive.
