Employment Opportunities: McKinnon Cougars BigV Home Game Day Roles

McKinnon Basketball is seeking committed, community-minded individuals to join our Big V Game Day Team for the 2026 season. These roles play a vital part in delivering a professional, welcoming and high-quality experience for athletes, officials and supporters across all McKinnon Cougars BigV home games.

Applicants must be available across weekends from March to August.

These opportunities also serve as an excellent entry point into sports administration, offering hands-on experience in event operations, game day delivery, and the inner workings of a basketball Association.

GAME DAY MC Lead the atmosphere. Set the standard.

The Game Day MC is responsible for guiding the crowd through every moment of the matchday experience — from pre-game warm-up to introductions, announcements and post-game wrap-up.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Preparing notes and researching teams each week to deliver accurate, professional introductions and announcements

  • Supporting venue setup, audio testing, and ensuring warm-up music is operating 45 minutes before tip-off

  • Introducing teams, referees, and the National Anthem in line with Big V protocols

  • Providing clear, neutral, and rules-appropriate commentary for scoring, fouls, timeouts and other allowable moments

  • Using inclusive, respectful language at all times and representing the Association professionally

Ideal candidates will have a confident speaking voice, strong communication skills, a good understanding of basketball, and the ability to think quickly in a live environment. Experience in MC’ing, presenting or performance is beneficial but not essential.

GAME DAY COMMISSIONER Ensure professionalism. Oversee operations.

The Game Day Commissioner is responsible for the smooth operation of each Big V home game — coordinating staff, maintaining standards, and ensuring all pre-game, in-game and post-game requirements are met.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Arriving early to set up the venue in an organised and timely manner

  • Overseeing the work of MC, statisticians, livestream crew and other staff

  • Liaising with coaches, referees and the Operations Manager

  • Upholding Big V protocols, maintaining compliance, and ensuring a safe and respectful environment

  • Using inclusive, neutral and professional communication in all interactions

STATISTICIANS Capture the game. Provide essential insights.

Our statistics team plays a crucial role in delivering accurate, real-time game data used by coaches, athletes, league officials and media.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Recording all live game actions, scoring, fouls and player outcomes using the official statistics platform

  • Ensuring accuracy and professionalism under time pressure

  • Liaising with the MC for pre-game box score checks and printouts

  • Supporting game integrity with consistent, detail-oriented data capture

If you're passionate about basketball and want to contribute to a positive, professional Big V environment, we invite you to apply.
