A Message from the GM (02/12/2025)

Dear Players, Coaches, Parents and Carers,

I would like to address our community and remind all participants of the expectations regarding behaviour towards others.

The vast majority of our members treat each other with kindness and respect. However, since the beginning of the Summer Season, we have dealt with several incidents of racial vilification that have caused significant harm to players.

This behaviour is unacceptable, deeply concerning and contrary to the values we uphold as an inclusive and safe Association. We have zero tolerance for any form of racism or discrimination, and we address such matters promptly and with appropriately.

Our Operations Team, Clubs and Welfare Officer work tirelessly to monitor behaviour and respond appropriately when concerns arise. We are also working closely with Basketball Victoria’s Integrity Department for advice and guidance. Over the coming weeks, we will begin implementing additional tools, education and resources to further support cultural awareness and respectful behaviour across our community.

The importance of inclusion and respect for every person involved in our Association cannot be overstated. Every participant has the right to feel safe, supported and free from harassment or discrimination.

We thank the many members of our community who uphold our expectations and live our values every day.

As a community, we must continue to guide our young people to treat others with dignity and to challenge discriminatory behaviour when they witness it.

We are grateful to our Clubs, parents and carers for your partnership in this important work. If you have any concerns regarding your child, or if you or your child experience or witness inappropriate behaviour, please do not hesitate to contact your Club or the  Association.

Warm regards,

Anita Ledger
