A Message from Our General Manager
As the 2025 Big V season comes to a close, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to every single person who has been part of our journey this year. From the energy of our biggest-ever home crowds to the countless moments of encouragement, you’ve made this season one we’ll never forget.
This has been the strongest season in McKinnon history. Three of our senior teams finished in the top three and reached finals, our Youth Women stepped up into Championship Division and secured a top 8 finish, and of course, our Championship Men brought home the ultimate prize - winning the 2025 Championship. These achievements reflect not only the talent and dedication of our players and coaches but also the incredible belief and support of our community.
What makes this year even more special is seeing 38 of our Junior Cougars step onto the Big V stage. With 4 juniors in our Championship Men, 6 in Championship Women, 12 in Youth Men, and 16 in Youth Women, the McKinnon pathway has never been stronger. Our juniors are proving that hard work, commitment, and Cougar pride lead to big opportunities and in turn, they’re inspiring the next wave of young Cougars to dream even bigger.
This year also showcased the power of our community spirit through two incredible fundraising events. Our Big Freeze round raised over $5,000 for Fight MND, and our Pink Round raised over $8,000 for Breast Cancer Network Australia. The colour, cakes, stalls, raffles, and sheer enthusiasm from our Cougar family made these rounds a true celebration of giving back and together, we proved that basketball is about much more than what happens on the court.
Thank you to our volunteers, game day staff, scoretable officials, families, sponsors, and every fan who filled the stands, cheered from home, or helped in ways big and small. You are the heartbeat of this club, and your passion drives everything we do.
This season wasn’t just about wins - it was about community, pride, and proving what’s possible when we come together. The Cougars are building something special, and with your support, the future looks brighter than ever.
