Thank You, Darren Anderson
McKinnon Basketball Association thanks Darren Anderson for his outstanding contribution to coach development and the representative program over the past seven seasons.
Darren will step away from his staff role as Director of Coach Education to dedicate more time to his growing business, Forward Pivot, and his young family.
Darren joined McKinnon as a coach before becoming Director of Coaching for the VJBL Girls program. In that role, he played an important part in the development of McKinnon’s female athletes and coaches.
As the representative program grew, Darren moved into the Association wide position of Director of Coach Education. His influence extended across domestic and representative basketball as he supported the recruitment, education, accreditation and development of coaches throughout McKinnon.
Darren shared his considerable knowledge and experience while helping coaches create environments in which players could learn, compete, develop and enjoy basketball.
His contribution went well beyond technical coaching knowledge. As an engaging educator and facilitator, Darren understood the importance of building confidence, encouraging curiosity and connecting people through a shared purpose.
The impact of his work can be felt across the entire McKinnon community. Every coach Darren supported went on to influence their own teams, players and families, creating a lasting legacy across hundreds of participants.
Darren also made a memorable contribution to McKinnon’s Big V program as one of the Association’s experienced game day commentators. His music, energy, knowledge and commentary brought home games to life, with his voice becoming an important part of the Big V experience at McKinnon.
While Darren is finishing in his formal staff role, this is not goodbye. McKinnon will continue to engage his expertise through Forward Pivot, while Darren will also remain behind the microphone at Big V home games when time permits.
