MBA Hosts First Walking Basketball Social Game

This morning, McKinnon Basketball Association (MBA) hosted its first Walking Basketball social game against a fellow association, marking an exciting milestone for the program.

Participants from Nunawading Basketball Association joined the MBA Walking Basketball group at Glen Eira Sports and Aquatic Centre (GESAC) for a friendly and inclusive matchup played in terrific spirit.

The inaugural fixture event is a launch pad for a series of Walking Basketball social games scheduled across the coming months, as MBA continues to expand opportunities for participants to stay active, engaged and connected through basketball.

MBA Programs Officer Hannah McGIllen said the session perfectly captured the purpose of the program.

“Walking Basketball is about creating a welcoming environment where participants can enjoy movement, teamwork and connection. It was fantastic to see our group share the court with Nunawading and experience the social side of the game that makes this program so special.”

What is Walking Basketball?

Walking Basketball is a low-impact, social and accessible way to increase physical activity levels across all ages, genders and abilities. The modified format is ideal for those returning from injury, managing mobility limitations, or simply looking for a fun and supportive way to participate in basketball.
